Birch wood is better than tree bark

For some time now, there have been living mazes on the market that are made of or surrounded by tree bark. On the one hand, these houses usually have too narrow an entrance for most medium-sized rodents. And on the other hand, the rings are usually not thick enough, causing them to break quite easily. This makes the house less stable overall, because then the little rascals start gnawing on it and the rest is self-explanatory.

Birch wood is usually a pressed natural wood. Several layers of wood are pressed together. This means that the natural look is somewhat lost, but the house is much more stable overall.

Furthermore, with a living maze made of birch wood, there is much less danger of getting vermin into the rodent cage. Various small animals like to crawl into the rings, which could then cause a lot of stress for the rodents!

Tree bark houses are also often screwed or nailed. This poses a risk of injury to your rodent!

A cosy home for coloured mice and dwarf hamsters

With a footprint of only approx. 28 x 20 cm, the Leyla hamster house takes up very little space to create a cosy home for your small rodents. It offers a spacious three-chamber system in which your rodent can choose his own sleeping place or storage chamber - just like in a natural hamster den. The Leyla living enclosure is made of untreated birch wood. The removable roof makes it possible to check the nest without disturbing the hamster. The wooden house was specially designed for the needs of dwarf hamsters - but is also suitable for coloured mice. Your rodent can reach the upper level via the ramp in the labyrinth. This can be used to place a running wheel, a drinking trough or other accessories.

Why several chambers?

In nature, rodents such as hamsters and mice create several storage chambers in underground burrows. Should one chamber be plundered by other small animals, the other chambers remain as reserves. The dwelling is also used for grooming or as a place to sleep. With the Getzoo living maze, small rodents can follow their natural instinct.

Why a removable roof?

Most small rodents carry food supplies such as fruit into their dens. This food can spoil and must be removed. With a removable roof this is done quickly and the small rodent is not disturbed as you do not have to lift the whole house. In addition, the nest can be controlled without disturbance, should there ever be offspring.
