High protein content

Freshwater shrimps score with their high protein content of up to 56 %. They are therefore not only suitable as a supplementary food for rodents in need of protein, but are also popular for species-appropriate feeding of ornamental fish, reptiles and pond dwellers. They are rich in dietary fibre and at the same time have a low density. They therefore float on the surface for a long time in the water and remain fresh for a long time in the rodentarium.

Two natural components of freshwater shrimps are carotoia and astaxanthin, which have a positive effect on the coat condition and the immune system.

Healthy nutrition like in nature

For some rodents, a balanced protein diet is vital. Especially when rearing, they need a rich supply. In nature, many mouse and hamster species hunt insects or even eat meat from other rodents. If this component is missing from a balanced diet, it can lead to deficiency symptoms or cannibalism in their own young. Since the protein balance cannot be covered with vegetable protein alone, gently dried insects are an important protein supplier.
