Getzoo Cork running wheels for rodents

Welcome to the world of Getzoo cork running wheels. Our running wheels are ideal for keeping rodents. We specialise in particular in cork running wheels for mice, cork running wheels for hamsters, cork running wheels for degus, cork running wheels for chinchillas and cork running wheels for gerbils. We have specially developed different sizes of cork running wheel for each rodent species so that the rodents can use the running wheels comfortably and without damaging their spine. Further down in the text there is a table in which you can see which wheel size is recommended for which rodent.

Cork running wheels for chinchillas

Keeping chinchillas is becoming increasingly popular. Chinchillas have a great urge to move and we recommend using a cork running wheel from Getzoo to be able to fulfil this urge. Our running wheels are particularly smooth-running, quiet and safe. We have two possible cork running wheel sizes in our range for chinchillas. The Getzoo Ø 33 cm cork wheel (Ø 31.4 cm inside) and the Getzoo Ø 42 cm cork wheel (Ø 40.4 cm inside) are particularly recommended for chinchillas. Cork running wheels for chinchillas should be large enough so that the animal's spine is naturally strained.

Getzoo Cork running wheels for coloured mice

The small and dainty coloured mice naturally also need the opportunity to get rid of their energy. It is advisable to provide one or more running wheels for this purpose, in addition to other objects to keep them occupied, of course. To ensure that the coloured mice have enough space, it depends on the size of the group which cork running wheel is the most suitable for coloured mice. If it is a small group, theGetzoo &Osla sh; 21 cm cork running wheel (Ø 19.4 cm inside) can also be sufficient, bu t it is better to offer the colour mice running whee ls i n the sizes Ø 27 cm cor k ru nning wh eel for colour mice or the Ø 30 cm cork running wheel for colour mice.in the sizes Getzoo Ø 27 cm cork running wheel for coloured mice or the Getzoo Ø 30 cmcork running wheel for coloured mice.

Gerbils cork running wheels

Gerbils, small, cute and absolutely fast and often on the move. You should provide running wheels for gerbils in the enclosure so that they can fulfil their strong urge to move. The Getzoo cork running wheels for gerbils are ideal for this purpose. Thanks to a concealed ball bearing, there is no risk of injury to the gerbils' tails, and the cork running surface of the running wheels is also particularly gentle. When it comes to running wheels for gerbils, we recommend two sizes, in particular, Getzoo Ø 33 cm cork running wheel for gerbils and the Getzoo Ø 42 cm cork running wheel for gerbils.

Cork running wheel or wooden running wheel

The cork running wheels from Getzoo have the particular advantage that the soft cork running surface is particularly gentle on the paws, and of course the paw treads are also much more insulated, i.e. quieter, than with the wooden running wheel. The wooden wheels, on the other hand, are already sealed with a non-toxic clear varnish, whereas the cork wheels are not. Therefore, it is ultimately your own preference as to which type of wheel you choose. Both wheels are of high quality and built in Germany.

Are the cork wheels height-adjustable?

Yes, all of our cork wheels are height-adjustable by up to 10 cm. How much exactly depends on the diameter of the impeller.

What special advantage do cork wheels offer?

The cork dampens the running noise of your rodent, making the wheels particularly quiet. In addition, the small animal paws are particularly protected.

Cork is particularly gentle on the claws of small animals running on it. The natural abrasion is also well supported.

Are cork wheels sealed?

No, only the wooden wheels are sealed with a non-toxic clear varnish before purchase.

How can I clean the cork balance bike?

If you have an impeller pincher at home, you will of course need to clean the cork impeller regularly. Cork has a decisive advantage over many other coatings; it does not swell. The wood around it can gradually become brittle after many times of cleaning and then it is time to replace it. Until then, however, you can clean it very often.

As soon as the big cage cleaning takes place, when all the pecking corners are cleaned and parts of the bedding are replaced, you can clean the cork wheel with vinegar water. We recommend using a soft toothbrush for this.

Please note that cleaning agents can soak into the wood and leave residues if you leave it untreated and do not paint it! Therefore, be careful when using disinfectants. The same applies to urine. If the rodent frequently pees in an untreated cork wheel, it will have to be replaced more frequently as the odour can no longer be removed and the peed-on wheel will gradually begin to attract vermin.

Can the cork impeller be frozen?

That is also possible.

Can the cork impeller be rinsed with hot water?

If necessary, this is also possible. The cork retains its shape and will not peel off.

How often does the cork wheel need to be replaced?

It all depends on whether you have coated the impeller with a varnish. If this is the case, it will need to be replaced less often. In any case, check the texture of the wood (does it become brittle?) and the odour (wheel pinks?) to prevent the risk of injury and vermin.
