Of course, our range also includes adventure food for rodents. As the name suggests, our hamsters, rabbits and the like like to gnaw on things. To prevent this from affecting their enclosure furnishings, we should offer alternatives. What could be better than tasty nibble sticks from Hugro or the nibble sticksfrom JR Farm? Here your rodents can really let off steam, with the Hugro nibble sticks there are different "flavours", they are coated with different things, this animates the rodents and it also tastes great. Also on offer are the Hugro nibble pizzas, which are small wooden logs with a hole in the centre and various delicious fillings. Your rodents are sure to love them. They are perfect for working off teeth, satisfying the urge to gnaw and providing a tasty snack at the same time.
Hugro Nibble sticks for hamsters, mice, gerbils and co.
The Hugro nibble sticks we can no longer imagine life without them. They are the first thing we recommend to fulfil the gnawing urge of hamsters, rabbits, gerbils and co. You should be aware that not all Hugro nibble sticks are suitable for all rodents. This is simply because dwarf hamsters, for example, are prone to diabetes, so sugar and particularly sugary vegetables (and fruit) should be avoided. Unfortunately, we can only advise against carrot and beetroot sticks for dwarf hamster keepers. But parsley and parsnip are perfectly suitable! Both are also readily accepted. The nibble sticks are otherwise suitable for all rodents, rabbits and guinea pigs may find them a little too small, or they will finish them quickly, but all other rodents will be busy with them for some time. From Hugro there are also the popular nibble pizzasThese are small pieces of wood filled with tasty treats such as vegetables, seeds and flowers. The Hugro Knabberpizza Kräuter und Blüten S and the Hugro Knabberpizza Saaten S are recommended for dwarf hamsters due to their composition. Rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas will be delighted with Hugro Knabberpizza Gemüse L and Kornmix L. It is a delicious composition of vegetables, herbs and fruit.
Dari cobs, amaranth, flax ears, millet and much more
Dari cobs, amaranth, flax ears, foxtail millet, nettle roots and more are not only great snacks for rodents, they also beautify the enclosure at the same time. If you want a more natural look for the enclosure of your mice, hamsters, degus, gerbils and so on, then there's no getting around it. Not everything will be palatable to your rodents, so many things will remain in the enclosure as they are. But we want to tell you one thing: flax ears are not good for decorating. These are eaten away very quickly because most rodents are totally crazy about them. Dill and nettle roots are more suitable for decoration, as they are usually not quite as interesting. With rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas, however, even these will not survive for long. Either way, it is a good idea to offer your rodents a little more and add variety to their diet with dried ears of corn etc. Discover the different products we have on offer and try out what your rodents like best.
Nibbling wood Apple tree, birch, hazelnut bark and more for rodents' nibbling fun
The Hugro nibble sticks are not so different from the wooden nibble sticks, but the nibble sticks are covered with something. The different types of wood and their own flavour and smell make them tempting to nibble on. Of course, the nibble sticks are also suitable for you to get creative yourself. For example, you can bake your own delicious snack sticks from buckwheat flour and seeds, herbs and flowers. The JR Farm nibble sticks are made from hazelnut bark, apple tree and birch. It's best to try out which one your rodent likes best. The wood is of course also an excellent decoration that can also be gnawed on. You can make bridges, boundaries and much more from the wood, just as you like.

Tips for adventure food for rodents
- Provide variety in your rodent's diet with adventure food
- Hugro Nibble sticks are available in different flavours
- Amaranth, flax, millet and much more also make great decorations
Although it is not essential for survival if there is sufficient food available, it is nevertheless expressly recommended for species-appropriate keeping.
In the wild, small animals are basically constantly gathering food. Although food is available around the clock to its domesticated counterpart, this does not ensure that this primal instinct disappears completely. Adventure food is so called because it is the ideal activity for the small rodent.
It always depends on the food. A nibble pizza, for example, is simply placed in the rodent's enclosure and then the rodent will eat it. Nibble sticks, nibble brooms or even cobs are clamped in a suitable place between items of furniture. Bridges, for example, also provide good cavities for this.
Nibbling wood and roots can simply be scattered around the enclosure. It is not necessary to dig them in specially. However, if you want to create a toy for your rodent, you can take an empty toilet roll, for example, stuff it loosely with hay on both sides and place the treat in the centre. However, some rodents will completely ignore such a thing, so you will have to test whether your little darling will even accept such a home-made toy. With hamsters, degus and gerbils, the chance is very high.
Of course, this is even a perfect alternative to the adventure food products we offer! It's best to use metal kebab skewers for this, as they are washable and cannot injure the little rascal with splinters or the like. Fresh fruit and vegetables are placed on these and then attached to the beetle. It is best to do this at the time when your pet is normally foraging for food.
What is left over is then removed from the cage the next day. Don't forget to check the house a day or two later to make sure that no fresh food has been stashed away!
