Rodent houses - Species-appropriate & handmade retreats for rodents
A safe and comfortable home is essential for hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits and mice. Our rodent houses are made from high-quality materials and offer your pet a protected retreat. Whether you are looking for a small multi-chamber house for hamsters or a spacious rabbit house with several entrances, you will find the right model here.
Our corner houses and cube houses are particularly popular for larger rodents. They not only offer protection, but can also be used as a raised platform. The cube house provides guinea pigs and rabbits with additional space on the roof to rest or look out over the enclosure.
All houses are handcrafted in Germany. They are made of safe, untreated wood and are optimally adapted to the needs of your rodents - for a species-appropriate and long-lasting facility.
Getzoo Houses for rodents
Discover the wide variety of different rodent houses- we have the right house for every rodent. Be it multi-chamber houses for hamsters, rabbit houses with several entrances or hamster houses with a slate roof for cooling off in summer. In addition to the rodent houses, we also have living labyrinths in stock which allow the hamster to feel completely at home and set up several chambers as desired. We also have larger houses for guinea pigs and, of course, for rabbits and chinchillas.
Multi-chamber houses for hamsters
For species-appropriate hamster keeping, it is essential to offer the hamster a multi-chamber house. There are different sizes for each hamster species, the multi-chamber house"Eckhaus Luna" is ideal for dwarf hamsters as well as golden hamsters, for example. With three chambers, the hamster can set up its sleeping chamber, a food chamber and a toilet. This is particularly important because in the wild, hamsters also organise their dwellings and passages in such a way that they have different chambers for different activities. If you would like to offer your hamster even more luxury, we recommend the"Xena living labyrinth".
Dwarf rabbit house
We also have several houses for the popular rodents, the dwarf rabbits. With the rabbit houses, we have made sure that there are several entrances and exits, as this makes it easier for the animals to get out of each other's way and avoids disputes. The houses are large enough for several animals to fit into one and there is also room for a few more animals in the house. The Getzoo XXL dwarf rabbit house is particularly popular with our customers.
✔ Wooden houses have a cosy temperature for the rodents

Guinea pig houses
Of course, we have also thought about guinea pigs. You will also find many different houses for guinea pigs in our shop. Here too, as with the houses for rabbits, we have taken care to have several entrances and exits. The houses are available in different sizes and designs, so you can decide which house suits you best.

Because hamsters build very long tunnels in the wild and end up with a kind of multi-chamber system. There is one room for eating, one for sleeping and one for doing their business in between. Depending on the hamster species, they stay in their tunnels for a long time due to hibernation or because the weather conditions make it impossible to do otherwise. Therefore, there should always be at least two chambers, preferably three.
So you can easily check your rodent's nest without having to lift the entire house. This makes checking much easier and less stressful for you and your pet.
Of course not! The houses arrive fully assembled and only the roof may need to be put on. However, depending on the type of rodent, we would recommend coating the house with 1-3 coats of clear varnish to make it easier to clean the house if a little urine does end up on the walls.
Absolutely! Wood is a very breathable natural material and enough air gets into the house through the entrances and openings in the lid of the houses (different depending on the model, see pictures). You don't need to worry about that.
We would always recommend living labyrinths that have several entrances/exits, as these make it easier for them to avoid each other. This is because disputes can always arise in the rodent group and can then be resolved more easily. Take a look at our Getzoo living maze range and decide for yourself which size is suitable for your enclosure.
The underground burrows of small rodents are connected to each other by long corridor systems. A house without a floor therefore offers the opportunity to optimally connect it with the tunnels and creates a protected entrance and exit.
Hamsters have digging habits that are not always logical for us humans. This is completely normal and completely harmless. You don't need to worry that the hamster will no longer come out of its house. It will freely dig out the entrances and exits as required and at will.
Incidentally, if you have an animal that has a strong tendency to undermine its furnishings, it is essential to ensure its safety. For example, in such a case it would be very important to remove the exercise wheel to the highest level so that the base can be placed right at the bottom of the cage. This prevents the running wheel from falling over and injuring the hamster while it is digging.
