Tips for using drinking troughs and water bottles for rodents
- Regular cleaning: please clean the water bottles regularly, preferably twice a month in the dishwasher or by hand with a pipe cleaner. This way you can be sure that your rodent always has fresh, clean and germ-free water.
- Just the right size: when choosing a water bottle, it is best to refer to the table above. This will enable you to purchase the right drinking bottle to suit your rodent
- 's needs. consider the location: when choosing a location for the drinking trough with water bottle, please ensure that the base of the bottle is not too high. This is because the animal will have to adopt an uncomfortable forced posture. Therefore, make sure that the animal does not have to lift its head too high to enjoy a sip of water.
- Defective water bottle: no problem! We always have enough in stock. So you can simply reorder a water bottle from us.
This basically depends on how high the water bottle is. The larger the water bottle, the longer the tube with the nipple ball. It is therefore best to orientate yourself on this. It should always be high enough for the rodent to reach it easily when it stands on its hind legs.
Watch your pet as it makes its first few attempts to drink! If it needs to be twisted, you will need to make some adjustments.
If the drinking bottle starts to drip, it must be replaced quickly, otherwise the bedding will become damp. This could cause germs to form and your little darling could catch a cold. There is also a risk that the animal will not get enough water because everything will drip.
Once a day, preferably just before your rodent becomes most active.
