Buying guide: Which factors are decisive, which bowl do I need?
- Corner bowls are usually used as litter trays.
- Bowls with slightly rounded corners on the inside are ideal as water bowls.
- Bowls that have a completely upright shape, on the other hand, are best for food If rodents often climb onto the rim, you should use a bowl with a slightly wider rim. This is the case with our Woodies.
Please do not use plastic bowls!
Your pet will thank you for it. Plastic not only has the problem that it is far too light and can therefore tip over quickly, it is also not species-appropriate. The rodents' teeth will scratch many small grooves into the surface and germs can quickly colonise them. Even if the bowls are washed out regularly, this would not be particularly hygienic.

It is important that the bowl is a maximum of 6 cm wide in diameter and 2 cm high.
In the case of a water bowl, the lower the better. If it is only one centimetre deep, you can be sure that your small pet will not drown in it.
Djungars and other dwarf hamsters are not as strong as their larger counterparts. A lighter food bowl can be used, but it must also be smaller.
The maximum diameter is 5 cm and the height of the bowl should not exceed 1 cm.
It must be cleaned as follows:
- Water bowl: Clean and refill daily.
- Wet food bowl: Clean and refill daily.
- Dry food bowl: Clean and refill twice a week.
