Natural and versatile natural branches
Roots and branches bring a lot of naturalness into the rodentarium. They offer the little rascals a part of their natural environment and are therefore important even if they are not used as a vantage point or climbed on extensively.
In general, many rodents are rather untalented climbers. Nevertheless, they try again and again. For example, you may have seen a hamster simply dropping from a high point. It does this because it is unable to climb down from the spot itself.
Branches can be used in a variety of ways
For example, you can attach adventure food to it and wrap it around easily. The branches have a good, strong bark that does not come off immediately with a little gnawing. And even if this should happen, the bark is not harmful to your pet.
We naturally pay attention to the most important health aspects. There is no resin on the branches and no rotten or dead wood is used.
Natural branches - the ideal activity for rodents
Natural branches for rodents are an excellent way to provide species-appropriate activity and healthy dental care. Rodents such as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters or degus have a natural gnawing instinct that they need to fulfil in order to wear down their constantly growing teeth in a natural way.
Why are natural branches so important?
In the wild, rodents spend a lot of time nibbling on twigs and branches. This not only strengthens their teeth, but also keeps them occupied and prevents boredom. Our untreated natural branches are free from pesticides and harmful substances, making them a safe choice for your animals.
Apple tree, pear tree and hazelnut branches are particularly popular, as they are not only tasty but also particularly robust. These branches offer long-lasting nibbling fun and are a useful addition to any rodent enclosure.
Versatile applications
Our natural branches for rodents are not only ideal for nibbling, but can also be used as climbing and hiding places. They are perfect for creating a varied and natural enclosure that meets the natural needs of your animals.
The regular supply of fresh branches can significantly increase the well-being of your animals. They are an excellent addition to a balanced diet and promote natural behaviour.

Frequently asked questions about natural branches
The question is less about the exact type of wood and more about the shape. There are rodents that like to climb a lot. Not because they are curious and want to reach a vantage point (that would be the hamster, or more rarely the dwarf dormouse), but because they simply really enjoy climbing. This is particularly true of mice, at least some species.
Of course, you know your rodent best. If it is a climber, you should make sure that you opt primarily for either inclined or simply vertical branches without many strong turns. In this case, cork branches are the best choice. Not only because of the shape you get, but also because of the bark structure.
Vines have a rather smooth bark and are not very suitable for climbing. This often results in the rodent slipping off. Of course, you can still place them in the cage. Your darling will definitely appreciate the branches!
Our branches are all purely natural products, so we would definitely recommend treating them directly after purchase and immediately before placing them in the cage.
You have various options for this:
- A hot shower (really with the shower spray) and a gentle brushing will reduce the potential parasites and germs that could be introduced by a branch. Despite the best storage, the risk of this cannot be completely eliminated.
- If you need to disinfect branches because you have a rodent with a severely compromised immune system at home, chlorine is the best option. Even better would be a combination of chlorine and a steam cleaner.
- The easiest method would be to simply freeze the branch for 48 hours if you have the space. Otherwise, you can also store it on the balcony in winter. But be careful: Aggressive bird mites, which can pass on to mice, rats and hamsters, are quite resistant to the cold! It is therefore advisable to freeze them properly.
Of course you can. But there are a few things to bear in mind so that your little rascal is not exposed to any danger from germs or parasites. This is, of course, a clear advantage that you have when you use our pre-prepared branches.
As I said, the risk can never be completely eliminated, but the most important foundation stone has already been laid with branches bought especially for rodents.
You need to bear the following things in mind when collecting branches and roots:
- Roots must be freed from soil and other dirt as far as possible (e.g. by rinsing them with water) and then allowed to dry thoroughly. This can take up to four weeks.
- The remaining soil and dirt can then be removed with a stiff brush. Work with a screwdriver if necessary.
- Once again, rinse the branch or root with water and then dry again.
- You can then use the wood in the rodentarium.
Of course, but rest assured that we do not offer such wood in our range.
Rodent owners are often very concerned about the use of tropical wood, or even ironwood and savannah wood. There are different names for it, another common one would be mopani. Although there are tannins in this wood, your rodent would not be able to scrape enough of it to get a significant amount into its stomach.
