Hiding places for rodents - protection, retreat & activity

Tips for using hiding places, tubes and tunnels for rodents
- Cork products: if you do not buy your cork products from us, you should either freeze them for 72 hours, bake them in the oven for 1 hour at 100 degrees or pour boiling water over them several times. This is the only way to ensure that there are no mites or similar in the cork. However, you don't need to worry about this with our cork products, as they are supplied cleaned ex works.
- Grass nests and hay tunnels: the same rule applies here. Please do not use them immediately, but treat them as mentioned above before use. This is the only way you can be sure that a pest has not nested in them.
- Securing the tunnels: if you are using a large or particularly heavy tunnel or tube, you should use a level or rack underneath if possible. Otherwise your rodent could be crushed by the weight. Make sure that if the rodent digs underneath or moves the tunnel, it is not in danger.
- Nibble houses, a snack for in between: as the name suggests, the nibble houses are absolutely edible. So your rodent can happily help itself to them - that's what they're designed for. This adventure food will certainly keep your rodent busy.
