Cork free from subtenants with quality from Germany
All the cork that you can discover in our online shop is produced in a workshop for the disabled in Germany. The cork pieces are also cleaned directly in this workshop using hot steam to remove any unloved lodgers. So you don't need to worry about insects or mites, our cork and decorative cork elements are absolutely free and clean. You also support the work of people with disabilities and help us to continue and improve our support for them.
Decorative cork for a better climate in rodent and reptile enclosures
In addition to the good environmental balance and the great look, decorative cork also offers a real advantage, because cork, like wood, can also store moisture and this moisture is then slowly released into the room air. This slowly creates a better indoor climate and excess moisture is absorbed. As you can see, decorative cork and cork in general have excellent properties for keeping rodents and reptiles.

Tips for using decorative cork
- Don't worry about bugs: our cork pieces are all cleaned by the manufacturer using hot steam, so you don't need to worry about bugs at all
- Customisable size: you can cut the decorative cork to size without much effort. Saw, sometimes even break
- Reusable: if your beloved pet leaves you and you get a new pet, you can simply "boil" the decorative cork, i.e. pour boiling water over it or "bake" it in the oven at 100 degrees for one hour
Hamsters love to climb around on elevations because they are curious animals by nature and true escape artists. Climbing objects are therefore primarily used to see more of the world, so they initially try to break out. However, it is always a good activity.
Although hamsters will immediately climb over and up anything, they are not particularly good at it.
They can only climb up, which is why videos on the internet showing them scurrying up wallpaper corners or curtains seem very funny at first, but are not at all. These short trips upwards can be very dangerous for hamsters as they are unable to climb down. Incidentally, this is also the reason why your hamster drops from the cork. Otherwise he wouldn't really be able to get down.
You can observe this behaviour on basically anything the hamster wants to wander off!
Decorative cork is equally suitable for rodent homes and terrariums. It provides the animal with a home and a place to hide. It can also climb over the cork and can hide great adventure food underneath or attach it directly to the cork.
Basically yes, but larger tubes are needed there, so small decorative cork hiding places are more suitable for rodent homes. If you want to offer a small crab an additional hiding place, the cork bark is of course suitable for this. These tubes are also very suitable for aquariums for aquatic turtles.
Cork tubes are made of 100 % natural materials.
In principle, baking out would be one of several possible methods for cleaning a cork tube. In fact, you should do this if the decorative piece is placed in a cage where sensitive animals live. This will reliably kill mite eggs and sometimes even moths.
You must also bear in mind that many animals will gnaw on it directly. In the worst case scenario, cork that has not been baked beforehand could transmit pathogenic germs.
Either use clean water with a soft toothbrush or bake it at 80 °C for half an hour every two months to ensure that all pathogens are reliably killed.
No, this is not really necessary for cork and is not recommended by us.
Unlike the hamster house, the cork should be disassembled in order to maintain claws and teeth in the long term. So don't stop your little darling from this behaviour!
